$5 Currency Notes

The $5 Currency Notes issued by the Republic of Texas are different for being only one of two notes that carry a depiction of an actual person as opposed to mythological or symbolic imagery. On the right side is a small portrait of Erastus Smith, the famed scout in the Texas army. The central vignette features a Native American brave, armed with a tomahawk and bow, surveying the ruins of a structure. On the sides of the central image, large, ornate fives are printed, surprisingly detailed. On the left side is a large geometric rectangle with the word FIVE printed down the length of the rectangle; in the upper and lower corners of the right side, the Roman numeral for five is printed in ornate squares. At the bottom of the note, centered, is the Lone Star, with the signatures of the Secretary of the Treasury and the President of the Republic on each side.

These notes are remarkably ornate with details that are remarkable even by today's standards; they would make excellent art for framing and collecting as well as being a good value for procuring for future sale. We have a variety of notes at varying levels for your collection:
